What is a Pheno Hunt?
The process of selecting the best plants from a batch of cannabis seeds based on their unique traits. Cannabis plants grown from seed can exhibit different characteristics (even within the same strain), so cultivators perform pheno hunts to identify the most desirable traits, such as:
🌿 Potency & Cannabinoid Profile – Higher THC, CBD, or other cannabinoid content.
👃 Aroma & Flavor – Unique terpene profiles that enhance the sensory experience.
🌱 Growth Structure – Ideal plant height, bud density, and resistance to pests/disease.
🔥 Effects & Experience – The way the strain makes people feel, from relaxation to energy.
During a pheno hunt, growers plant multiple seeds of the same strain, observe how each one develops, and then select the best “keeper” phenotypes to continue breeding.
